Two boys with a new old toy

                                                 Front axle

The front axle is from a jag we are going to heavily modify to fit the 38 .We have totally removed all bushes and pins. last night we built up the cross beam to see how we are doing .We put the wheels on the slid the beam under the 38 .Now we can see that the axle is about 1 inch to wide .However its going to fit well then. And the steering rack is going to fit on the rear of the cross member. We need to mount the rack to the beam      20/01/08 we ground all the old mountings of the cross member. Two hours later we had nice clean cross member to use.We can now send of to the blasters . Once it is back we will start the rebuild .yipe

Jaguar X.J.S front sub frame, modified to fit new front chassis rails and non stock manual steering rack sourced from a Japanese van
                         stock Jag disc brakes.

We had some spare time to make up the mounts for the steering rack.So we made some templates up and cut metal to size. then  out  with  the  welder  all  welded  and  ready  to  fit Seem to putting a lot of hours into this but detachable tow eye.

after  several front end 'mock ups' we now have the sub frame to chassis  mounts designed, cut and welded on, using 6. 5/8 unf 10.8 bolts our detachable  design allows the entire front sub frame to be unbolted from the chassis for servicing etc. Have added a stronger base plate for jacking which also incorporates bolt holes for a                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     waiting a bit of a clean. All the bit for the front axle are on this trolley i have decided to let jerry clean them.Only because thats the kind of guy i am. All the part are in good working order just a good old clean and then paint to bring out the best of the old.

Currently working on the shock absorber mounts and still working on the  steering rack mounts.  There will be a pic to follow soon as waiting for all new bushes to come in and that should be the sub frame done

Here we have the front cross member with the shocker mounts on in place ready for sand blasting then primer and paint

                                              blasted and ready for paint
THE CROSS MEMBER IS PAINTED Rebuilt

THE CROSSMEMBER HAS TAKEN A LONG TIME BUT .WE THINK IT NOW IS HOW WE NEED IT TO TAKE US TO SPEED.ALL THE BUSHES ARE NEW BALL JOINTS ARE AS WELL . 5/06/08
